I do declare that the saddest words in the world are "I am not worthy of the God's/the Lord's mercy/love/forgiveness" and "I am a miserable sinner".
To assume a posture that mistakes shame and humiliation for devotion and humility is perhaps the greatest and most sorrowful thing for me to witness in anyone. This is not about a Christian God, not about any particular religion or path. My view of the Divine is universally (literally) expansive and inclusive ~ all and any and no interpretations are all valid. But to see anyone cut them self off from the real inheritance of our beingness ~ which is that we are perfectly loved and perfectly related to at all times, in all circumstances ~ which is that we are not intended to crawl upon the floor in some ages-long pilgrimage of atonement for an original sin, but rather stand up in the beauty of the gift of our sovereignty as stewards of life here ~ to see anyone cutting themselves off from the heart of the law of all that is, which is mercy? Breaks my heart. No "God" with a capital G, no consciousness of love, would place a burden of blame upon His/Her/Their/Its children as if there were a broken contract... because... Love, that which is the "heart" of that Consciousness/of "God"? Never contracts. Only ever expands. The agreement is simply to be and to thrive according to the laws of harmony and love. To choose otherwise may indeed be the only "sin", using the word in its original intention: "to miss the mark". But there is no punishment and no retribution and there was nothing to ever redeem. Lies and manipulations. Our initial nature was perfect and perfect we remain. No-one is "fallen". Our only error is in paying a burden of sin to a "god" that cannot actually be the most perfect Divine Source... for the Source of perfect Love cannot be jealous, wages no wars, and demands no proof of allegiance nor faith. Worthy? We were created and we are born worthy. Is this hubris? No. It is our birthright and, if one can look through the hijacked writings of the scriptures of any or all faiths, we will see it and hear it. Being inherently worthy does not erase our morals or ethics. If anything, we become more moral, more ethical. For, in truth, we are born knowing (gnowing, if we are a gnostic) the way to BE, aligned with/serving life and love. Those who say we must not question the perfection of the creation? Why do they question THIS? Because of distortion. It is every distortion that is fed to us that causes us to stumble off of the path. The gnowing is that "God" does not, can not, will not ever demand of us that we prove ourselves. If some "God" does... perhaps we should question that. ~ Adam Photo Credit: Joanne Delabruere, 2011, Burlington Earth Clock, Burlington, VT |
